Brenda Verreault of Brenda’s Baked Goods has been attending the Bridgewater Farmers’ Market since she first opened her bakery business 8 years ago. The Barrs Corner-based baker is a familiar face to market-goers, and her homemade cookies are dangerously delicious.

Brenda first discovered her love of baking when she was 10 years old. She always knew that homemade baked goods taste better than store-bought mixes, so she turned her baking hobby into a job. You know what they say - when you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Prior to opening her own business, Brenda was working as a baker at Tim Hortons. After a few years of working in the food service industry for other people, she decided she wanted to be her own boss.

”I decided that if I could work so hard for one person, I could work just as hard for myself,” she said.

When asked what her favourite thing to bake is, Brenda didn’t have one answer. “I love everything!” she exclaimed. “Everything that you see here, I love it.”

Brenda makes a variety of different pastries and baked goods, including cookies, cakes, pies, breads, haystacks, loaves, and cinnamon rolls. You can also order gluten-free or keto-friendly alternatives upon request.

Last August, Brenda received her Food Establishment Permit. This important career achievement now allows her to sell her products to restaurants, including a pizza restaurant in New Germany, 2 Papas, who buy their sub buns from Brenda.

You can visit Brenda’s table and pick up some goodies most Saturdays at the in-person market, and you can order online from her page in our online store! To always know which vendors are attending the market each week, subscribe to our newsletter by clicking here!
